Whenever you visit the park, traveling along the Going To The Sun Road, the only road to cut through Glacier National Park, is a must. Going To The Sun Road at Glacier National park. This guide will help you plan your visit to going to the sun road. Several hiking trails branch off from the road, with easy access via the shuttle service now available in the park. Listed at the left are our top ten places to visit when traveling across the Going to the Sun Road. The 50-mile-long Going-to-the-Sun road takes you from West Glacier Montana, across the Continental Divide all the way to the east side of the park and Saint Mary's Montana. You travel through diverse alpine environments, past glacially carved and fed Lake McDonald, through swamps where moose sightings are frequent, to Logan Pass at the Continental Divide. The road then heads down the eastern side of the divide, passing the cascading Lunch Creek and St. Mary Lake and on the way to a small town called St. Mary.
